I’m constantly asked, “Justin, what’s next for the Lifestyle Investor? What’s your vision for the future?”
In truth, the vision hasn’t changed. However, the scale of what we are doing has exploded. It’s hard to believe how fast we’ve grown. Among masterminds, we stand out for our unmatched strength, robustness, and quality.
But I have a confession to make. Initially, this community was held together by duct tape and dreams. It was just me and Tee (our incredible operations manager) grinding it out. To usher in the new era, though, I needed someone who would help run the show, not just be a member. And that person is Ryan Casey, Chief Operating Officer of The Lifestyle Investor.
The Architect Behind the Evolution: Ryan Casey
Ryan was one of our “OG” members, the fifth or sixth to join. At the time, he was running two Orangetheory Fitness studios in the country. When I tried to involve him back then, the timing wasn’t right. Then came a tipping point. The outside team I brought on just didn’t grasp our culture. Ryan saw it, texted me, and said, “I’m ready to step in.”
Since then, Ryan has designed our systems and protocols. Rather than just joining the team, he became its engine. As a result of his leadership, the Tribe of Investors mastermind has doubled in size, and the Lifestyle Investor flagship has reached new levels of institutional-grade excellence. As we grow, he ensures we never lose the “lifestyle” that defines us as an organization.
Investing $300k+ in Your Peace of Mind
Among the things I am most proud of, and something Ryan has contributed to, is our commitment to due diligence. Most people join a mastermind simply to get closer to deals. We’ve taken it to the next level.
Each year, we invest upwards of $300,000 in our vetting process. The following isn’t just a glance at a pitch deck; it’s a multi-layered defense system for your capital:
- Institutional-grade analysis. To vet our real estate and private equity deals, we partner with firms that handle hundreds of millions of dollars.
- In-house expertise. Every opportunity is scrutinized by our dedicated real estate professionals and custom AI tools, such as our InvestmentCriteriaGPT.
- Zero pay-to-play. This is a hill I will die on. Unlike most groups, sponsors cannot pay us to present deals. As a matter of fact, we make them pay for their own background checks.
We don’t make a dime off of your investment. We make money when our money is in a deal next to yours. This eliminates bias and ensures we are all on the same page. As a result of Ryan’s “member-first” filter, deals have already made it through a gauntlet before they reach you.
From Japan to Napa: World-Class Experiences
It’s not just about the bank account when it comes to lifestyle investing; it’s also about the memories. Without improving our quality of life, we’re just adding digits to a screen.
As an example, I returned from a trip to Japan, where we visited eight Michelin-starred restaurants and the world’s #18 cocktail bar. Ryan is preparing for our annual trip to Napa with my personal sommelier, Mario Matavesco. No matter what our members and their spouses are looking for, Ryan and the team are constantly curating “bucket list” experiences.
Those who have worked hard to build a career and a life with us deserve to live that life they’ve earned. The experiences that make up our community are not just perks; they’re the glue that holds it together.
The Foundations Mastermind: The Next Generation
As our flagship groups matured, a new question arose. Our veteran members kept asking, “Where was this when I was in my twenties, and is there something like this for my kids?”
As a result of this, we developed Lifestyle Investor Foundations specifically for young adults. Ryan has led the charge here, and the results have been staggering. Originally, we thought this was for college students, but Ryan’s leadership has attracted a force of high performers in their late twenties and early thirties.
For these young leaders, Ryan emphasizes four ROIs:
- Connections. Bridge-building between young investors and the mastermind titans.
- Education. Shifting from “1% better” decisions to “50% better” decisions by catching mistakes decades early.
- Tax strategy. Implementing high-level strategies (like those from Garrett Gunderson) that most people don’t discover until their fifties.
- Deal evaluation. By teaching them to say “no” to the wrong things, they will be able to say “yes” to the right things in the future.
Starting at the Dinner Table
Ryan and I believe that a financial legacy begins long before you reach your twenties. Currently, we’re working on a project very close to our hearts: a book about financial literacy for children. Ryan championed this because he wanted something better for his own daughter than the traditional grind-for-money narrative. It teaches kids about scaling, partnerships, and the “lifestyle” side of investing through a character named Savannah.
Our goal is to change a child’s trajectory before they receive their first paycheck by sparking conversations at the dinner table. Instead of following the herd, it’s about teaching them to avoid the “shiny object” trap.
Which Community is Right for You?
Often, Ryan and I talk about the “ladder of success.” We’ve developed a framework that ensures you’re not just “writing checks,” but also learning the art of allocation and avoiding the joy of missing out (JOMO).
- The Open Community. For those just beginning to explore Lifestyle Investing, our free group (2,000+ members) is the perfect starting point.
- Foundations. Intended for young adults (20s-30s) who are looking to build their first passive income streams and define their own investment criteria.
- Tribe of Investors. This is ideal for those with a net worth between $1M and $5M who want to master alternative investments and become more successful.
- Lifestyle Investor Mastermind. A flagship group for high-earning W-2s, business owners, and exited investors wanting access to institutional-grade deals.
The Mission Has Shifted
Throughout the years, our mission has evolved. We don’t want to be the best investment education company; we want to be the best investment education community.
With Ryan leading our next generation of programs, I’ve never been more confident about reaching that goal. Our legacy isn’t just about us, but about empowering our children and their children to live a life by design, not default.
So, are you ready to stop chasing deals and start building a lifestyle?
If so, in what ways are you vetting your “next big thing” to ensure it aligns with your lifestyle goals, and how can we help you or your children take that first concrete step towards financial freedom this month?
Key Takeaways
- Systematize your success. The right leadership and institutional grade systems, led by experts like Ryan, are critical to transitioning from duct tape to world-class.
- The power of JOMO. It’s not about chasing every “shiny object”; it’s about having a clear set of criteria that you enjoy saying “no” to.
- Skin in the game. To ensure we are always on the same side as our members, we invest $300k+ annually in high-level vetting.
- Start the next gen early. We shouldn’t wait until we are adults to learn financial literacy. Using programs such as Foundations and our new kids’ book, we bridge the generation gap between 6 and 30.
- Lifestyle is the goal. Without memories, wealth is just a number. Put “bucket list” experiences first to ensure that you can scale your quality of life alongside your savings.
- Institutional due diligence. Investing in an infrastructure worth $300k/year is usually beyond the means of individual investors. Competitive advantage comes from community-driven due diligence.
- Find your community level. Whether it’s our free Open Community or the flagship Mastermind, success is a ladder — be in the room that challenges your current status.
